We at the Alpha Nu Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta strive to give back to our community and to those in need by doing philanthropic events through out the year. By helping those in need, our vast brotherhood grows stronger and our sense of humility is fortified. We help not to be recognized or applauded but because we are aware that we are much more fortunate than some in our community. The Alpha Nu chapter and the International fraternity light in each member the spirit of service with the hope that the zeal of service to others remains lit until death. It is in giving that we receive and our reward is the satisfaction that comes from serving our fellow human.

Last fall the Alpha Nu chapter held its 1st annual Purple Turkey Drive. With the help of the Greek community, individual brothers and graduate brothers we were able to raise over 1200 pounds of turkey (75 whole turkeys). The turkeys were donated on live television to the roadrunner food bank. Every year Alpha Nu FIJI’s are active participants in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Relay for Life, Walk a Mile in her shoes. We have created our own such as Save the Boo!bs in the fall ,Save the Melons in the spring and the infamous Pledge Active Auction. Right now Alpha Nu is coordinating the Second Annual Phi Gamma Delta Starr Kircher Cancer Awareness Ball to help raise money for the University of New Mexico Cancer Center. The event is named after Adam Starr (upsilon-Ad Astra) and Elizabeth Kircher( Mother of Brother Kircher) . This event will be held on May 1st (Founders Day) in the UNM SUB Ballrooms. Tickets are 55 dollars per couple and they include dinner and a dance afterwards. The spring Pledge Active Auction will also be held at this time. ***all proceeds from the Cancer Awareness Ball and the Pledge Active Auction will go to the University of New Mexico Cancer Center under the direction of Dr. Cheryl Willman.
